Mapei Ultralite S2 Flex Tile Adhesive FAQ's
What makes Mapei Ultralite S2 Flex different from standard tile adhesives?
Mapei Ultralite S2 Flex is a highly deformable (S2 class) lightweight adhesive. Its key advantage is its “Low Dust” technology and high yield; a 15kg bag covers approximately the same surface area as a 25kg bag of conventional adhesive. It is specifically designed for large-format tiles and challenging applications like façades or external thermal insulation systems.
Can Mapei Ultralite S2 Flex be used for swimming pools and exterior areas?
Yes, Mapei Ultralite S2 Flex is suitable for both interior and exterior bonding, including swimming pools, tanks, balconies, terraces, and façades. It is highly resistant to temperature swings and can be used on substrates subject to direct sunlight.
Is Mapei Ultralite S2 Flex safe to use this adhesive on timber substrates?
Yes. Mapei Ultralite S2 Flex can be used to install tiles on marine plywood, particleboard, and existing wooden floors, provided they are stable and securely fixed. Its S2 deformability classification allows it to absorb significant substrate movement.
What is the mixing ratio for Mapei Ultralite S2 Flex?
For a 15kg bag of Grey or White Mapei Ultralite S2 Flex Tile Adhesive, you should mix it with approximately 5.7 to 6.2 litres of clean water. The mix has a pot life of approximately 8 hours. No latex additives are required; it is a one-component adhesive.
How soon can I grout the tiles after installation?
You can grout wall tiles after 4 to 8 hours and floor tiles after 24 hours. The floors are set to light foot traffic after approximately 24 hours, and surfaces are ready for full use after approximately 14 days (21 days for swimming pools and tanks).
