Frequently Asked Questions
What is Everbuild Tecnic used for?
The Everbuild Tecnic range is designed for specialist use in construction and industrial settings. It’s often used for structural glazing, movement joints, fire-rated sealing, acoustic joints, and clean environments like hospitals and kitchens. These products are made to meet strict regulations and provide long-lasting performance in demanding conditions. Common examples include fire-rated silicone for walls and floors, neutral cure sealants for curtain walling, and hygienic sealants that resist mould and bacteria.
Are Tecnic sealants suitable for fire-rated construction?
Yes – several Tecnic products are specifically made for fire protection. For example, Fire Sealant 300 provides up to 5 hours of fire resistance and is tested to BS EN 1366-4 standards. Fire Sealant 400 is a silicone-based version that offers similar fire performance, with the added benefit of being suitable for external joints as well. Both are commonly used in fire-rated walls, floors, and partition joints where tested compliance is required.
Can I use Everbuild Tecnic in food-safe or sterile areas?
Yes, some Tecnic sealants are formulated for use in clean or sterile environments. Products like Hybriflex 480 and Silicone 825 are suitable for kitchens, food prep areas, laboratories, and healthcare settings. These sealants are low-odour, solvent-free, and designed to resist bacterial or fungal growth. They also cure to a smooth finish that’s easy to keep clean, making them ideal for high-hygiene applications.
How long do Tecnic sealants take to cure?
Curing times vary between products and depend on temperature, humidity, and joint size. For example, Silicone 825 typically becomes touch-dry in about 30 to 45 minutes and reaches full cure within 24 to 48 hours. Fire Sealant 300 becomes tack-free in 15 minutes, but curing may take longer depending on depth and conditions. It’s best not to disturb the sealant until it’s fully cured to ensure maximum performance. You can always check the product label or ask us if you’re unsure.
