Flowpoint Grout FAQs
What is UltraScape Flowpoint used for?
Flowpoint is a rapid-setting, flowable grout used for filling joints between paving slabs, setts, flags, and tiles. It’s suitable for both domestic and commercial applications, including patios, driveways, town centres, and transport hubs. Its fast-curing time makes it ideal for projects where downtime needs to be kept to a minimum.Â
What types of paving can Flowpoint be used with?
Flowpoint is compatible with a wide range of paving materials including natural stone such as sandstone, granite, and limestone, as well as concrete slabs and flags, porcelain tiles, and clay paviours or bricks. For tips on surface preparation and stain prevention, see our full compatibility blog here.Â
How do I use Flowpoint grout?
Using Flowpoint is straightforward. Start by pre-wetting the surface and joints. Mix a 25kg bag of grout with 4.25 litres of clean water for around 3 to 5 minutes until smooth. Pour the mixture onto the surface and work it into the joints using a rubber squeegee. Keep the paving damp during application and clean off all residue before the grout reaches its initial set—typically around 30 minutes. You can follow our detailed how-to guide here for step-by-step instructions.Â
How long before I can walk or drive on it?
Flowpoint sets quickly, which is one of its biggest advantages. Foot traffic is typically allowed after approximately 1 hour, while light vehicular traffic can be permitted after about 4 hours, depending on ambient temperatures. This makes it particularly useful for time-sensitive or public-facing projects.Â
How much grout will I need for my patio?
A 25kg bag yields approximately 13.9 litres of grout. For a typical 20m² patio with 8mm joints, you’ll likely need between 10 and 14 bags. If you need advice on the quantity of Flowpoint you will need to complete your project, feel free to reach out to us by visiting our contact page.Â
Can I use Flowpoint in cold or hot weather?
Yes, but you’ll need to adapt your approach. The ideal working temperature range is between 5°C and 30°C. In warmer weather, you should work quickly and keep the surface moist to prevent rapid drying. In colder conditions, expect the setting time to be slower, and avoid using Flowpoint if frost is expected.Â
Will Flowpoint stain my paving?
Staining can occur if the product is not applied correctly, particularly with porous or lightly coloured natural stones. To prevent staining, always pre-soak the surface before application, keep the paving damp during the process, and clean off any residue thoroughly before it hardens. Testing a small inconspicuous area first is always a good idea. Â
