How to use Sikafloor Level 122 Universal
1. Surface preparation
Ensure the substrate is sound, dry, and free from dust, oil, grease, or loose material. Repair any cracks or weak areas. Smooth or non-porous surfaces may require mechanical preparation or priming to promote adhesion. On some substrates, applying a primer such as SikaBond PVA is recommended to ensure optimal bonding and prevent adhesion issues.
2. Mixing
Measure about 3.5 litres of clean water per 20 kg bag. Pour water into a clean bucket and gradually add the powder while mixing with a mechanical mixer at low speed for approximately three minutes until smooth. Avoid adding extra water or remixing after the mixture begins to set.
3. Application
Pour the mixed compound onto the floor and spread evenly using a steel trowel or float. Apply from a featheredge up to 6 mm in a single layer. For thicker applications, use multiple layers, allowing each to dry before the next. A spiked roller can remove air bubbles and ensure a smooth surface.
4. Curing and finishing
The surface is walkable after 2-4 hours, depending on conditions. Floor coverings such as vinyl, carpet, or tile can be applied after around 8 hours. The finished surface is flat, solid, and smooth, ready for final flooring.
