Which surfaces can you use UltraScape Flowpoint on?

A cobbled street with mixed colour stones and fresh, grey grouting.

UltraScape Flowpoint Rapid Set Grout is a trusted favourite for its durability, speed, and ease of use—but what types of paving materials is it compatible with?

In this guide, we explore the range of surfaces Flowpoint works best with and share key tips to ensure you get a clean, professional finish every time.

Natural Stone Paving

Flowpoint is ideal for natural stone surfaces like:

  • Sandstone
  • Limestone
  • Granite
  • Slate
  • Yorkstone

These materials pair well with Flowpoint due to its flowable consistency and high bond strength. That said, always carry out a small patch test beforehand to ensure no surface staining occurs—particularly with softer or more porous stones like sandstone and limestone.

Pro Tip: Pre-wet the surface thoroughly before application to reduce the risk of residue marking.

Porcelain Paving

Porcelain paving has grown in popularity for modern patios and gardens, and Flowpoint is up to the task.

  • Its fine-grain structure fills tight joints effectively
  • The rapid setting helps lock in the rigid finish needed for low-profile tiles

Ensure tiles are fully bedded and surfaces are pre-soaked before applying grout to avoid drying too quickly on the surface.

Concrete Flagstones

Flowpoint bonds extremely well with concrete slabs and flagstones. It’s a great match for:

  • Traditional garden paving
  • Public walkways
  • Heavy-use driveways

Because concrete is less porous than stone, it’s still important to keep surfaces damp during grouting for best results.

Clay Paviours & Bricks

Flowpoint is also compatible with clay products, often used for:

  • Heritage paving projects
  • Decorative pathways
  • Courtyard layouts

As with natural stone, a trial area is recommended to check for potential staining or colour transfer. Always rinse thoroughly and avoid leaving residue on the surface.

Surface Tips & Precautions
  • Suitable for joint widths from 5mm to 50mm, with a minimum depth of 20mm
  • Keep surface damp before and during application to avoid staining
  • Clean the surface thoroughly before the initial set (approx. 30 minutes)
  • Not recommended for use on unbedded or loose paving
